Great, fast and a decent price. Perfect NY style crisp but chewy crust. The buffalo chicken was my favorite.
Il Matone serves up an amazing thin and crispy New York slice. There's a lot of construction scaffolding near the entrance, so it's kind of easy to miss if you're just walking by. The slices are well balanced with melty cheese and flavorful toppings. These slices have no flop. If you like your pizza thin and crispy, stop here for a slice or two. There's not really anywhere to sit, but eating a slice on the sidewalk adds to the New York experience.
Great food, especially the vodka sauce pizza! My new favorite quick Italian spot in the city
No frills, old school pizza and calzones joint. The staff is efficient and friendly and the food comes out hot and delicious. Try some of the specials and you won't be disappointed.
This place really hits the spot! It is real small but has amazing food. Came here to get some lasagna and it was delicious. Friend got the lobster ravioli and said it was good too. I would like to come back to try the pizza. Everything is very reasonably priced.
Small intimate, old style pizza joint. Limited seating is available on the outside of the restaurant. Courteous staff. They make sure you have everything you need before leaving. I ordered a regular slice and a slice of Sicilian. They offer the standard selection of drinks, Coke, Pepsi, Root Beer, etc. The pizza was delicious, consisting of the right balance of sauce and cheese. The crust wasn't greasy or floppy. I definitely will return.
Looks closed from the outside, but it's a lie! It's actually open !!! Yummy pizza, highly recommend!
My boyfriend and I have been on the hunt for the best pizza in NYC for a couple months now. We've been to Soho. We've been to East Village. But did I ever expect to (potentially) find NYC's best slice in Tribeca?? The food: y'all the pizza is AMAZING. As with many places in NYC, you pick what you want from the counter and it gets toasted fresh in a matter of minutes. We decided to get a slice of the bacon pepperoni pizza to split, and it was revolutionary. The cheese pull was divine. The crust was CRISPY. They didn't skimp on the meat, and there was more than enough bacon and pepperoni to go around. Everything about this pizza just made sense. The only way I can describe it is like the best pizza dream you've ever had come to life. The atmosphere: this is the type of hole-in-the-wall place where you *know* the food is going to be good. There's a single table and chair inside, in case you want to sit down (but most people take their slices to go). There's some garlic and red pepper flakes on the side too, in a little self-serve station by the door. TLDR: If you're in Tribeca, Il Mattone is a must visit. This pizza joint is truly a gem, and one of the best kept secrets in NYC.
A literal hole in the wall you might miss with all of the scaffolding. Today I was craving an old school ny slice for lunch and il mattone hit the spot. Some tips: if you use credit there's a 4 percent surcharge. A slice is $3 cash. There's literally one chair and one table if you plan to eat there. They offer $10 and $14 lunch specials which in Tribeca is quite the deal. I'll be back.
